Celebrating One-Month of Homemade-Food Businesses in California

It’s been one month since AB 1616 -- the California Homemade Food Act -- took effect.  In recognition of this anniversary, I want to celebrate the success of home-based food businesses in California!

Throughout the next week, I will be highlighting home-based-food business here in California.

Taken from news articles, web-blogs, and other sources from around the state, I hope these posts will help illuminate the impact of AB 1616, provide readers with additional resources on how to start their own homemade food business, and inspire new ideas of how to help local businesses in California even more.

Today, I'm highlighting the story of the inspiration behind AB 1616, Mark Stambler, whose award-winning homemade brick oven bread business was shut down by the Los Angeles Department of Environmental Health. Get the story "Behind the Bill" in this Assembly Access Video.

Thank you, best wishes, and good cooking!
